New to Many2Many? Learn all the ins and outs about how to select, search for, and add tags to your Salesforce records.

This page covers:

Navigate the Tag Catalog

To open the catalog of available tags, click on the search box. This displays a scrollable, alphabetized list of the first 50 available tags, with the first nine visible immediately in the dropdown.

If you click out of the Many2Many component, the list will collapse but any selected tags will remain selected until the “Add Selected” link is clicked or refresh the page.

Search for Tags

Many2Many has a dynamic search box that will display the available tags containing the same string as entered in the search box.

For example, if you type “om” into the search box setup to tag organizations, here are some examples of tags that will render:

  • Oman’s Children's’s Fund

  • Homeaid

  • Feeding Somalia

Select Tags

Once you’ve selected the relevant tags, simply click on “Add Selected” or hit “Enter” on the keyboard to add the tags to the record.

Note that the pills are originally displayed in the order in which they were selected but as soon as the page is refreshed, they will be shown in alphabetical order.

Add Multiple Tags

The pill container expands when adding multiple rows of tag pills. Because the pill container must also accommodate the input search box, it may expand one row beyond the rows of pills, depending on the position of the last pill.

Display Long Text Tags

Tags longer than 30 characters are displayed with the first 30 characters, followed by ellipses (...). To see the full text for a tag, hover the cursor over the tag pill.

Remove Tags

To remove tags, simply click on the “X” in the tag pill.

By default, clicking on the “X” in the tag pill will delete the junction record and place it in the Recycle Bin.

To archive tags instead, refer to the Archive Mode section.

Use Rollup Fields

Tags added to Catalog and Target objects can be viewed as comma-separated values in a field on the respective object. This can either be a custom field or a standard field.

For comma-separated values to appear in the field, ensure that the API name of the field has been mapped to the appropriate Rollup field in the Tag Settings flow. (“Target_Object_Rollup_Field” & “Catalog_Object_Rollup_Field”)
